Psalm 30 ~ Day 2!
1 I will extol You, O LORD, for You have lifted me up,
And have not let my foes rejoice over me.
2 O LORD my God, I cried out to You,
And You healed me.
3 O LORD, You brought my soul up from the grave;
You have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.a]">[a]
4 Sing praise to the LORD, you saints of His,
And give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name.b]">[b]
5 For His anger is but for a moment,
His favor is for life;
Weeping may endure for a night,
But joy comes in the morning.
6 Now in my prosperity I said,
“I shall never be moved.”
7 LORD, by Your favor You have made my mountain stand strong;
You hid Your face, and I was troubled.
8 I cried out to You, O LORD;
And to the LORD I made supplication:
9 “What profit is there in my blood,
When I go down to the pit?
Will the dust praise You?
Will it declare Your truth?
10 Hear, O LORD, and have mercy on me;
LORD, be my helper!”
11 You have turned for me my mourning into dancing;
You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness,
12 To the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent.
O LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever.
Wow what a day! Again God has proven Himself so faithful and loving in every way......whew.....even up until just an hour before I sat to type this.
O LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever.
Well let me start with the beginning and work my way down the Psalm.
Today was hilarious as I almost forgot to sit with my boys at lunch time! Just a another testament to His power shaping me into a consistent person. Man, it seems like I am harping on something........Oh well I have had much dialogue with the Lord about how frustrating it is to be this way but desiring to be consistent. That is when I am reminded that I find routine to be boring and I would never want to be bored or boring for that matter. I do see the benefits in being consistent in many things. For instance, I am learning how to spell consistency as I continually look at the red dots under the word as I consistently misspell the word! That is just a hilarious side bar!
God gave Elijah this scripture on the way home from church one Sunday when he was going through some major ridicule and outright abuse at school. It was amazing to see his face when he took me aside and shared that God had prompted him to open the Bible and out stood this scripture.
Verse 2 was very prominent for Elijah today in particular because recently he received an immediate healing at church one night. He had injured his finger at soccer practice that weekend and he was complaining quite a bit. So we prayed over it and I told him that I did not want to take him to urgent care on a weekend while Shannon was out of town. So I prayed and we went about our lives. At dinner on Sunday evening Elijah asked, "Why doesn't God always answer our prayers?" Well we talked about the fact that God is all knowing and for whatever reason sometimes we have to go through things that are difficult.
After church he approached me with the pain that had been bothering him. I was busy taking Caleb to the rest room as he had a bloody nose. So I asked my friend to pray for him. Well, can I tell you when I came out of the restroom he and his wife looked mesmerized. I said, "What?!" Elijah's finger was pain free and as a matter of fact the swelling had gone down considerably. By the time we were in the car there was no longer a purple streak down the center and the swelling was almost completely gone. This finger had been swollen since Saturday morning!
Can I tell you that miracle radically affected that couples faith as well as my husbands, and Elijah's.
O LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever.
