Inertia is a property of matter by which it continues in its existing state of rest or uniform motion. Newton's first law of motion is referred to as the law of inertia and states that an object at rest tends to stay at rest and an object in motion tends to stay in motion with the same speed and direction unless acted upon by an outside unbalanced force. You have experienced this law first hand when you are in the car and someone slams on the breaks, Your body wants to continue moving forward due to inertia however the car stopping abruptly causes you to be drawn back into your seat, although you initially were leaning forward as your body tried to maintain the same rate of motion. Although the laws of physics dictate the response of the physical world around us, we as believers must maintain our state of rest no matter the unbalanced abrupt interactions we have throughout our day. Rest is of utmost importance in order to maintain a joy filled life that displays the gr...
Heavenly Father, Thou has led me singing to the cross where I fling down all my burdens and see them vanish, where my mountains of guilt are levelled to a plain, where my sins disappear, though they are the greatest that exist, and are more in number than the grains of fine sand; For there is power in the blood of Calvary to destroy sins more than can be counted even by one from the choir of heaven. Thou has given me a hill-side spring that washes clear and white, and I go as a sinner to its waters, bathing without hinderance in its crystal streams. At the cross there is free forgiveness for poor and meek ones, and ample blessings that last for ever; The blood of the Lamb is like a great river of infinite grace with never any diminishing of its fullness as thirsty ones without number drink of it. O Lord, for ever will thy free forgiveness live that was gained on the mount of blood; In the midst of a world of pain it i...
While on hike with campers yesterday, we came across several galls. This gall, in particular, is an oak gall. Oak galls form on the leaves or branches of trees when a specific species of wasp inserts their ovipositor into expanding plant tissue and lays an egg. Once the eggs are laid, the developing young hijack the tree's growth hormones and get the tree to do all the work of providing both a safe haven and a continuous food supply. These galls act as a physiological sink where an endless supply of food is provided for the larvae and now in attracts a whole host of uninvited guests called parasitoids. The word gall means "bitter" and these galls have an extra astringent property due to an increase in the tree's tannin production which deters potential predators from finding and eating the wasp larvae. While galls seldom pose a problem for developing trees, bitterness in the life of a Christian is extremely deceitful and destructive. Hebrews 12:15 ...
