A Song of Joy!
As I was walking through the garden this morning, looking for signs of new growth, anticipating the arrival of much fruit, I was bombarded by the clear crisp vocalizations of the birds around me.
Even as I sit typing, there is proverbial symphony of sound surrounding me.
But one song stands out. The song of a small bird on the high wire. He is singing his little heart out. A song of joy. A song of worship. A song of energetic praise!
Psalm 19:1 attests to the fact that all of the heavens declare the glory of God their maker.
The resounding voice of this tiny bird is declaring the glory of the Lord!
As I was walking last night, I looked up and beheld the most magnificently glorious sky that made my heart sing for joy at the work of a master craftsman.
God has given us a voice so that the inspiration of our hearts can be vocalized into a song of praise to Him.
The birds sing in jubilation all around me and I am reminded of my thoughts from days prior as our family had experienced a traumatic event.
Our little pet parakeet had his head pressed by a door as our youngest son was closing the door while walking out of his room.
The bird began to squawk and writhe around in pain on the floor all the while we were trying to determine the extent of his injury.
After things calmed down, we were all pretty shaken up by the event, especially little Yoshi.
We watched him carefully for the next 24 hours. One thing was immediately apparent.
He was no longer singing.
I thought how incredibly sad that would be if he no longer had a song to sing.
We waited for the next few days to see if he would begin to sing but during that time I thought about the implications of his silence.
As we go through our days we experience many situations and have many interactions that have the potential to rob us of our joy.
We have a song to sing to our Creator and the lover of our soul so that all the world will see Him through our lives.
Many times these daily interactions silence the song of joy in our hearts because we are distracted or even traumatized.
Let us not allow the circumstances of our life silence our song of joy to the Lord!
Psalm 81 commands us to "Sing aloud to God our strength"
Let us not be silent in our rejoicing to our great and awesome God! Jesus even said in Luke 19:40 that if we are quiet, that the stones would burst forth in cheers!
I don't know about you but I don't want to be silent an allow the lesser things in creation to sing His praises!
King Jesus is worthy of our joyful proclamation to all the earth! Let us sing praises to our risen King in all His glory! Let us not allow the enemy to silence our song of joy because the joy of the Lord is our strength!
Nehemiah reminds us not to be grieved because the joy of the Lord is our strength!

Psalm 47
Come, everyone! Clap your hands!
Shout to God with joyful praise!
For the Lord Most High is awesome.
He is the great King of all the earth.
He subdues the nations before us,
putting our enemies beneath our feet.
He chose the Promised Land as our inheritance,
the proud possession of Jacob’s descendants, whom he loves.
God has ascended with a mighty shout.
The Lord has ascended with trumpets blaring.
Sing praises to God, sing praises;
sing praises to our King, sing praises!
For God is the King over all the earth.
Praise him with a psalm.
God reigns above the nations,
sitting on his holy throne.
with the people of the God of Abraham.
For all the kings of the earth belong to God.
He is highly honored everywhere.
