Let Us Not Neglect Such Sweet Access!

O God of My Delight,

Thy throne of grace

is the pleasure ground of my soul.

Here I obtain mercy in time of need,

here see the smile of thy reconciled face,

here joy pleads the name of Jesus,

here I sharpen the sword of the Spirit,

anoint the shield of faith,

put on the helmet of salvation,

gather manna from thy Word,

am strengthened for each conflict,

nerved for the upward race,

empowered to conquer every foe;

Help me to come to Christ

as the fountain head of descending blessings,

as a wide open flood-gate of mercy.

I marvel at my insensate folly, that

with such enriching favours within my reach

I am slow to extend the hand to take them.

Have mercy upon my deadness for they Name's sake.

Quicken me, stir me, fill me with holy zeal.

Strengthen me that I may cling to thee 

and not let thee go.

May thy Spirit with me draw all blessings

from thy hand.

When I advance not, I backslide.

Let me walk humbly because of good omitted

and evil done.

Impress on my mind the shortness of time,

the work to be engaged in,

the account to be rendered,

the nearness of eternity,

the fearful sin of despising thy Spirit.

May I never forget that 

thy eye always sees,

thy ear always hears,

thy recording hand always writes.

May I never give thee rest until Christ is

the pulse of my heart;

the spokesman of my lips,

the lamp of my feet.

Hebrews 10 lays out the "Once For All" sacrifice that was made by Christ on the cross.  For it was impossible in the old covenant, where the blood of bulls and goats was required, to take away sins.  These sacrifices were offered according to the law but Christ did not come to abolish the law but to fulfill the law.

Because Jesus fulfilled the law we, as believers, no longer have to repeatedly offer sacrifices, which can never take away our sins.  We can confidently enter into the holy places by the blood of Jesus.

We have access to the throne room of God!  This privilege of entering into the Most Holy Place, brings about a new and living way for us to draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies was he with pure water.

We have "stellar integrity" as we stand before a Holy God because we are joint heirs with Christ!  We have been fully redeemed by the blood of Jesus and are able to come boldly into God's presence as a son or daughter of the Most High.

This right standing affords us the opportunity to go to God "in praise, and thanksgiving; in worship; in complaint; in lament; all with confidence; because of Jesus Christ."

God has opened a new and living way for us to walk and talk with Him.  The curtain of His flesh was torn to give us the ability to draw near with clean hearts.  Accepting the reality of Christ's sacrifice for our sins gives us a better possession than what the world has to offer, an abiding possession.

Because of what Christ has done 

we can be possessed by Him!  

We can abide with Him and in Him 

and in His Word!

The reality of the gospel gives us great confident hope in His abiding presence and our free access to Him at anytime day or night.  We have an open hotline to heaven!  Let us encourage each other to pray and continually sit in the presence of the King who paid such a high price to give us such sweet access!

Hebrews 10:24-25

And let us consider how to stir one another 

to love and good works, 

not neglecting to meet together, 

as is the habit of some, 

but encouraging one another, 

and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.  

Let us confidently draw near to God as the day of His return draws near!
