The Deep Saturation of Jesus

I love the deep penetrating saturation of steady heavy rain.

It reminds me of the Lord's deep enduring faithfulness.  How He refreshes and restores us through his life giving word which saturates our souls with truth.
Water's cohesive property makes it "sticky".  Every water molecule has a drive to stay stuck to another due to the polar nature of each molecule.  This "stickiness" causes the water to travel through the soil with a channeling effect.

As we allow the word of God to dwell in us richly, it provides a steady, deeply penetrating stream of truth to the soil of our hearts that provides the needed component for us to stand firm in our faith.

Not only do plants need water for the process of photosynthesis but the primary component that allows them to grow and produce food is their reliance on the presence of the sun and its supply of energy that stimulates the pigments housed  in the plants leaves to make sugar using water and carbon dioxide.

Like plants we need the presence of the Son in conjunction with the water of the word and life giving exchange that occurs in community in order to grow.

The bright radiant energy we get from basking in Jesus' presence comes when we learn more of Him through His word.

John 1:1-5 shows us that He is the Word.

In the beginning the Word already existed.

    The Word was with God,

    and the Word was God.

He existed in the beginning with God.

God created everything through him,
and nothing was created except through him.
The Word gave life to everything that was created,
and his life brought light to everyone.
The light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness can never extinguish it

He is the Word!  He is our source and the driving power behind our lives.  He is the light that shines in our darkness and nothing can extinguish Him!

The sun provides heat that allows evaporation to occur from the leaves in a process called transpiriation.  Transpiration is what causes the water to rise through the plant's vascular system against gravity.

This process of transpiration is like the miracle that God does when we read His word and it brings life and structure to a wilted, forlorned life.

This process of transpiration occurring too rapidly can cause the temporary wilting of the plant's leaves as the rate of gas exchange exceeds the plant's ability to restore its specialized tissue with the cohesive movement of the life bringing water.

Aren't we just like these plants.  We too, experiencing a wilting effect when we are under the heat of life and at times the water that replenishes our souls evaporates into the atmosphere of our lives and all of its demands.

We need, once again to drink deeply from the well of His word, taking in a new reservoir of His provision for our lives in order that we might be able to breath His breath of life to those around us.

If we continue on a path of walking through life without being replenished, soaked and saturated by His word, then what do we have to offer?  It is Jesus  that brings life through our lives and if we are not spending time, in order to be saturated in His word and  His presence, like a well watered garden, then we will more than likely see our lives wilt and burn out before us.

Let us live in the Light of Him today!  Let us bask in His presence! Let us soak up the water of His word that stand firm in our faith in our day!
