Stand Tall and Face the Son

Oh how I've waited and anticipated this sunflower opening!  Before leaving on vacation I gave it a good dose of fertilizer and came home to a 10 foot tall stalk that had doubled in diameter.

Sunflowers are composite flowers meaning they are not individual flowers but a large group of individual flowers.

Sunflowers are gloriously strong in stature and produce hundreds of seeds.  They bring such joy to the viewer and have become a popular favorite at farmer's markets and grocery stores.

Not only do their strength and beauty reflect the glory of our Creator but within the head of the sunflower lies a brilliant space saving design that has a mathematical expression that can define its structure.

The Fibonacci sequence is the hidden mathematic rule that shapes the head of a sunflower.  This sequence is found in plants other than the sunflower.


With all the grandeur and glory of a sunflower provides, its life is short lived.  It too will fade.

However, it leaves behind the legacy of it's life in the hundreds of seeds that are produced by it's life.

Just like the sunflower, we too have an opportunity to stand tall and glorious in the light of the Son, growing tall in the light of His countenance but our lives will soon fade away as well.

Although our lives are temporarily dwelling in these tents of flesh we are born again from a seed that will never die!

I Peter 1: 23-25
We have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God; for 

"All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass.  The grass withers and the flower falls but the word of the Lord remains forever."

We have an opportunity to produce the same type of seeds by preaching the good news of the gospel so that all can hear!  We need to declare His glory by putting Him on display and as we do that we grow and He is glorified.

Our lives must count for eternal things!

I want to leave a legacy that will carry out the hidden mystery of Christ in our lives!  We are to be a living letter of Christ written on other's hearts!

Let our lives Lord reflect Your glory and grandeur while we still have breath and allow us to produce a harvest of righteousness as we love you and others and as Your word impregnates our lives in such a way that we leave a legacy of Christ for the world to see!

 Let the hidden rule of Your word in our hearts shape our lives in such a way that Your glory will be seen by all and draw many to partake in the fragrance of Christ!

God let the sequence of the gospel shape our hearts 
and heads into the head of Christ!

The Powerful Force of Water can Make Even the Sharpest Stones Smooth

Water has a powerful effect on stones.  As it flows over rocks it smooths and shapes them into precious little stones. Erosion from water can carve deep grooves into the landscape of our hearts just like the word of God, but just like the beaver, we try to set up areas in our hearts to prevent the forceful effect of the word of God on our minds and hearts. Often we think our lives are open and willing to yield to the waves of the Spirit and the powerful force of conviction in our lives.
