Tree of Life

Trees produce leaves in order to monopolize on their ability to capture energy from the sun.  As the leaves develop, they create a network of tributaries that provide the needed passage way for the sugar, that is created during photosynthesis, to travel throughout the plant so that it can feed itself and grow.

Metaphor upon metaphor in the Bible God's people to trees.

The tree of life signifies a state of one who is possessed of vitality, absolute fulness of life, a life active and vigorous devoted to God,  and blessed.

Xylem and phloem are specialized tissue of a tree that transport the water and sugar and disperse it throughout the organism's various components of its structure.  These are the means by which the vitality of the tree is transported for growth and productive living.

Proverbs 15:4 shows that our words can be a tree of life

Gentle words are a tree of life; a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.

With our words we have an opportunity to bring life and vitality through the flow of the Holy Spirit our of the sap of our lives.

As we position ourselves in the light of His glory, we receive His power and His energy that produce the sweet life giving food for ourselves and ultimately others to grow.

When we turn our eyes away from Jesus and get wrapped up with our own lives and look at all our problems we not only rob ourselves from the life giving power of God that is available to us in order that we grow and mature but we have the potential to speak things into other's lives that will cause harm and not good.

Then the angel showed me a river with the water of life, clear as crystal,
flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb.
It flowed down the center of the main street.
On each side of the river grew a tree of life,
bearing twelve crops of fruit,
22:2 Or twelve kinds of fruit.
with a fresh crop each month.

The leaves were used for medicine to heal the nations.

As we are planted by the stream of His presence, like in Revelation 22, we have the potential to bring healing and life to the nations by what God produces from our lives!

The purpose of a tree's life is to produce fruit so that its seeds can be distributed.  If we produce bad fruit then the seeds from that fruit will be planted into peoples lives however, when our lives are vigorously producing fruit from the sweet flow of sugar that proceeds from His presence then we are going to be producing fruit for others to partake in that they may grow and produce fruit as well.

As we meditate on the word of God and delight in His law all through our days we become life giving trees who bear much fruit and live lives of vitality and absolute fullness.

Psalm 1:1-3 NLT
Oh, the joys of those who do not
follow the advice of the wicked,
or stand around with sinners,
or join in with mockers.
But they delight in the law of the Lord,
meditating on it day and night.
They are like trees planted along the riverbank,
bearing fruit each season.
Their leaves never wither,
and they prosper in all they do.

Lord, help us stay by the stream of Your presence and bask in the light of Your glory so that we will be fed ourselves and become a resource for others to grow into the fullness of Christ!
