Power Packed Lives Can Cause the Kingdom of God to Flourish

Late summer brings with it a push to pass on genetics through the production of seeds.  There are many ways in which seeds are dispersed in order that they can send out potential prodigy that will perpetuate their species.

Jewel weed or touch-me-nots are one of my very favorite seed dispersion modalities in creation that I get to experience every year.

As I walk by these plants I cannot help but look for the plump indication that the seeds are ready to be dispersed to produce next year's offspring.

The seeds are housed in a pod like structure that, as it grows, produces potential energy, not only stored in the seeds but in the apparatus that will propel the seeds from it's interior encasement when a slight motion, like the wind or an animal jostles the plant.

While the plant grows it's seed pods, the internal structures grow in an opposite directions, creating internal potential energy that will propel the seeds like a cannon when lightly brushed or disturbed.

Much like the jewelweed's stored potential power, the Christian, being filled by the power of the Holy Spirit can overcome sin.

I John 3:7-10

Little children, let no one deceive you.
Whoever practices righteousness is righteous,
as he is righteous.  Whoever makes a practice of sinning
is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning.

The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy
the works of the devil. No one born of God
makes a practice of sinning,
for God's seed abides in him,
and he cannot keep on sinning
because he has been born of God.
By this it is evident who are the children of God,
and who are the children of the devil:
whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God,
nor is the one who does not love his brother.

Scripture is very clear here that perpetual sin in someone's life places them within the enemy's camp but the good news is that THIS is the very reason that Jesus condescended from heaven!  He appeared to destroy the works of the devil.

When we are born of God we cannot continue to practice sin because God's seed, the seed of the Holy Spirit, resides in each one of us.

Recall Jesus said,

If you love me, you will keep my commandments.  And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth,... You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you. "I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.

John 16:7
Nevertheless, I tell you the truth:
it is to your advantage that I go away,
for if I do not go away,
the Helper will not come to you.
But if I go, I will send him to you.
And when he comes,
he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgement: ...

That seed that God places inside the believer, is the very power, like the winding plant power of the jewel weed, that supplies the energy and vital life giving force to propel us into a life of obedience to God.

The divine energy of the Holy Spirit operating within a soul is the very reason that we are regenerated into a new life with God.

The seed contains the germ of future generations as well.  When our lives are propelled into obedience, by the power of His Spirit working in and through us, then the fruit we produce, has the ability to perpetuate the seed of God in others lives.

We have a part in perpetuating the prodigy of God!

Lord, let our lives be like jewel weed, growing by the internal power of the seed of the Holy Spirit, being convicted of sin,  so that we can thrust forth seeds into this world that will grow into the kingdom of heaven.

Although we may cast tiny seeds of faith Lord, we know that these have the very potential to grow into a flourishing tree like the mustard seed of faith!

"The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed
that a man took and sowed in his field.
It is the smallest of all seeds,
but when it has grown it is larger than all the garden plants
and becomes a tree,
so that the birds of the air come and nests in its branches."

Lord, let our lives sow into the fields of the world that in due season we may reap a harvest of righteousness for Your name sake!
